Update

Good afternoon Seaview,

I cannot believe how lucky we have been with the weather. My younger sister lives in Christchurch as she has had three days of rain.

I have been trying to do lots of exercise to combat all my trips to the pantry and fridge. Jaan and I have been on daily walks and bike rides. I have also been completing F45 workouts at home as well as running.

I have also been testing out new recipes from a paleo cookbook I ordered a few months ago.

A fun game you could play at home with your siblings is 'shops.' My sisters and I used to play this game a lot when we were younger. We would get out tins, packets, boxes from Mum's pantry and set up a play supermarket. We also made play money and eftpos cards. We had hours of fun.

Send through your pictures to Anna and I of the fun activities you are your family are doing together.

Enjoying the sun!

We are doing as many outdoor activities as we can at the moment in case we get some rainy days.  We are lucky in Nelson to have such warm days.

Today we biked from our house to the boat ramp, used our chalk to make a town in our garden and filled a container of water to see which of our toys could float.

A busy morning!

What have you been doing?  If you have any photos to share with good ideas for our classmates please email them through to Kelly or myself and we'll share on the blog.

Listening to Stories

Our family has been listening to lots of audio books during the last few days (Will for much longer at bedtime). We have issued some using the online library and have stumbled across the Radio New Zealand Storytime Podcast - The Best of Storytime:  The latest and greatest children's stories and songs from New Zealand. Ngā pūrākau me ngā waiata nā Aotearoa.

Here is a link you can follow to find out more:  The Best of Storytime RNZ

3D Animals

Hi everyone

Hope you've all had a great Monday.  Day 5!  It feels a bit like day 10 at ours but that was bound to happen!

To have a laugh this afternoon we followed the instructions online to invite some animals into our living room.

My phone was a bit old but Toby's worked beautifully.  The animals are still cool even without the background of your own home.

Google the animal and go to the 3D link.  Follow that and it should take care of itself.

Have fun!

The Great Teddy Bear Hunt

Lottie and I went for a walk around the block today and looked for the teddies in the windows of the local houses.  We saw 60!  We have also added some teddies to our window so local children can count ours as well!

Have you been hunting?  How many did you see?

Writing idea

Good morning Seaview,

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

I have a would you rather question that I would love to hear your thoughts on. Remember to include 'because' to tell me why :)

Would you rather have a magic carpet that flies or your own personal robot?

I would rather have my own personal robot because she can help me cook and clean around the house.

Reading Eggs

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is having a fun day at home. I will be cleaning out cupboards this afternoon and then reading my book.

I have used Reading Eggs at a previous school I taught at and the children loved it. Reading Eggs is offering parents a 30 day trial, which I highly recommend you signed your kid up for.

When you child first signs into Reading Eggs, they will complete a series of questions to determine the appropriate level. Following this, your child will be assigned a learning map that is interactive and supports their learning in reading and writing. Each time your child completes a task they are rewarded eggs, which they can spend on items for their 'house.'

Please email me any questions you have. I cannot recommend this program enough.

Have a great day :)

An update from Anna

Morning everyone.

I wanted to share some photos of our caterpillars and chrysalis.  Unfortunately one caterpillar did not survive the move to our house.

Today we made scones for morning tea as well.  Very cheesy!

Hope you have a fun finding all the toys you forgot you had!

Mr Science

Let me know what you are doing at home today.

David Walliams

David Walliams is sharing an audio story every day.  He is calling it Elevenses.  A chance to leave your kids listening for 20 minutes while you get a cuppa!  My Will and Lottie listened today and thoroughly enjoyed it!  As did I!  Have a listen and see what you think.

The Swan Plants

The swan plants have moved to Anna's house so we can keep track of how the caterpillars grow and change over the next few weeks.  We will keep you up to date with photos.  We have four caterpillars and one chrysalis!

Sprouts

Last week Sam started the children off with our next growing experiment.  They used a sprouting jar and got some quick results.   Today we ...
